What qualifies as a Pre-Existing Condition at OneShare Health?

Pre-Existing Condition is any sickness or Injury for which a Member received medical treatment, advice, care, or services, including diagnostic measures, took prescribed drugs, or showed signs and symptoms, whether treated or not, within 24 months.

OneShare Health defines "Pre-Existing Condition” as any sickness or Injury for which a Member received medical treatment, advice, care, or services, including diagnostic measures, took prescribed drugs, or showed signs and symptoms, whether treated or not, within 24 months before the Member’s Effective Date of their Program. Eligibility for a Pre-Existing Condition has a 24-Month Waiting Period.

OneShare does recognize a difference between Pre-Existing Conditions and those that are Chronic. Routine Maintenance of Chronic Conditions is defined as care that follows diagnosis and any active care once the patient’s health status has become stable.

The goal of Maintenance Care is to monitor and maintain the improvement that was accomplished with active treatment. The following conditions are considered Chronic and are Eligible for the Routine Maintenance of Chronic Condition, subject to Program Guidelines:

  • Diabetes Type 1 and Type 2
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Thyroid
  • Hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol)
